The pandemic has led to shortages in a range of critical health resources, raising ethical questions about the values that should inform policies about which groups should be prioritised for access to these resources. Such questions may require us to balance considerations of fairness, equality, and justice with the moral reasons to minimize mortality in the pandemic. This workstream addresses these questions, with a particular focus on vaccine distribution policies, the deployment of mass testing, treatment triaging policies, and the use of public health interventions such as quarantine.
The prioritisation workstream is led by Professors Julian Savulescu and Dominic Wilkinson who work with postdoctoral researcher Dr Jonathan Pugh.
